Bongaigaon Refinery, Technology with Ecology at Heart






               Nascent Beginnings                                                                                                                                             Bongaigaon Renery (BGR) became the 8th renery of IndianOil
                                                                                                                                                                              after  the  amalgamation  of  Bongaigaon  Renery  &
               A Dream takes Shape
                                                                                                                                                                              Petrochemicals  Limited  (BRPL)  with  IndianOil  on  March  25,
                                                                                                                                                                              2009. The renery, situated in the Chirang District of Assam,
                     n  December  5,  1969,  the  Government  of  India  decided  to  establish  a  new  Renery  &                                                           about 200 km west of Guwahati, spans nearly 850 acres amidst
               OPetrochemicals Complex in Assam. The foundation stone was laid on January 19, 1972, and                                                                       lush greenery, located about 10 km from Bongaigaon city. It
               the investment decision for the petrochemicals sector was made on August 4, 1972. The complex                                                                  meets the energy needs of Assam, the northeast region, and
               was initially a part of Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited, Baroda, but on February 20,                                                                 neighboring Bhutan. Additionally, it is close to tourist attractions
